ABOUT ME

BRIEF

South African author Esjay C. Moore captures your attention with an easy-to-read fictional story. Moore’s writing style is both descriptive and fluid, sending you on a roller-coaster of heartfelt emotions. Chapters are laced with cheeky fantasy, stained by the influence of a sordid society and hemmed with the flirtatious promise of romance.

Moore’s stories have a distinctly South African flair giving an air of authenticity. Written for mature young adults, the plot would appeal to all that may identify with the troubled protagonist.

WHY THIS GENRE

To be perfectly honest, I began writing a few years ago a genre completely different to contemporary romance. (shhhh it's a secret!) I then interrupted my writing to complete a Masters Degree. After that, I wished to get back into writing but struggled to connect to my writings. Then on a whim, I started with The Blessing of Queen and quite enjoyed the 'truth' of the storyline. This led me to think that I should write several stories of young women struggling to be authentic, but finding themselves in undesirable situations. Women are strong, and truthfully we can accomplish anything we want, we just have to be determined to do so!

WHY SOUTH AFRICA

Well, firstly I am born and bred South African! so why not! Many writers chase the international dream but South Africa has a richness about it. There is both sadness and promise in the young adults today. They have a lot to contend with in society. I hope my writing allows young adults to identify with the lead characters to see that every life-story can become a fairy-tale. We have to set a goal, believe in ourselves and strive towards reaching that goal every day.

DESCRIBE YOUR FEMALE PROTAGONISTS

My female characters are stronger than they realise! Women, in general, ARE strong but sometimes fall victim to circumstances due to lack of belief in ourselves! (Most of the time at the hands of others!) At some point, we eventually say: "ENOUGH of the BS!" This is the moment we go from being the victim to being the hero. We stand up for ourselves and the life we should lead. This is the epitome of my female characters.

ARE THE CHARACTERS REAL IN YOUR LIFE

Not sure I should answer that! Remember my stories are fictional but my inspiration is drawn from real life that surrounds me. (You can read this BLOG point #2 to see for yourself. I think every woman will identify with some aspect of my characters be they male or female.

IS THIS YOUR FULL-TIME OCCUPATION

Not yet.... and possibly never. I like to keep busy with a number of plates spinning in the air. I guess if I write enough and sell enough it could be. I would also need a loyal reader-base to motivate me to write more. So share! Share! Share!

WHAT IS YOUR MESSAGE

Be authentic! Stand up for yourself! If you can't do it alone find a friend or a group to help you! Don't stay where you aren't loved and appreciated! Above all .... ENJOY LIFE you only have one! So if you want something bad enough, nothing is impossible!
